About

Hello and welcome!

The conversations I have with clients tell personal stories. Together, we look below the surface to discover where they have been and how they can get to where they want to go. It is the blend of exploring people’s thinking, in combination with creative problem solving, that brings forward hope and desired change. Helping people learn that they have the ability to change brings meaning and purpose to my work.

I have extensive experience practicing in the areas of mood and anxiety disorders, emotional regulation, obsessive compulsive disorder, family issues, stress management and relationship difficulties. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults.

I offer individual, family and couples therapy utilizing a variety of approaches including cognitive behaviour therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and cooperative and proactive problem solving.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is evidence based and helps people learn to identify, question and change how their thoughts, attitudes and beliefs relate to the emotional and behavioural reactions that cause them difficulty.

Through careful assessment and dialogue, issues can be identified that are interfering with well being. We will work together to build resiliency, fight stigma and gain awareness of vulnerabilities. My goal is to provide the knowledge, tools, energy and determination needed, for you to create a healthy life.

Credentials

I hold a Master of Applied Science in Psychology and a Doctorate degree in Developmental Psychology from the University of Waterloo. I have been a Registered Psychologist with the Ontario College of Psychologists for over 25 years, practicing in the area of clinical psychology. Previously, I have been involved with the Clinical Behaviour Science faculty at McMaster University and on faculty as an assistant professor at the University of Guelph within the Centre for Psychological Services.
